Life after home school education for students is something that always concerns parents. This is understandable as once they have completed their secondary studies they’ll be looking to join other non-homeschooled students at secondary schools (often private when it comes to homeschooled children) and then on to universities and colleges.

For a few the first few steps after home school education can even be somewhat problematic when it comes to getting accepted into college. This is normally only a problem when students have been taught through a nonaccredited homeschool education program.

But for most students the main problems they will probably find will be in social integration, as the difference between their elementary school days and their days at a regular high school will be considerable. The problem is that homeschooled students tend to learn in an extremely sheltered environment and often have a somewhat limited social circle.

What this generally means is that when the students find themselves at a public or a private high school, they are not used to the sheer number and variety of people that they come into contact with on a daily/weekly/yearly basis. This can come as a considerable shock and definitely a contrast between their homeschool days and their secondary days.

Now it is true that some students truly Flourish with the new social circle. However some students can get lost in the crowd. And worse still other students even get caught up with the completely wrong type of people and end up in a social circle that ends up influencing them in a bad way.

After home school education, the right way to prepare

It is vitally important in the early home school education days to make sure that students participate in plenty of after-school activities and do not only ever play with one or two people. When students are not always in the same environment and the same crowd from an early age, it helps them to evolve socially when it is most critically important and this will help them to make the right choices later on.

Preparing students for the times after home school cannot be done in just a couple of months, instead it must be an ongoing preparation throughout their homeschool education days.
